MakersLAB.TV S1E7 - Testing Sublimation and Heat Transfer Paper for Cotton and Polyester Fabric

Advanced Machinery brings to you A3 and A4 Sublimation paper that can be printed on a normal inkjet printer as well.

Traits of the Printing Paper:

-Well suited for printing on polyester and cotton fabrics.
- Well suited for both dark and white materials.

In this video Riley from Landford Agencies tests the new sublimation paper range that AM offers and tries to figure out which paper goes well with which t-shirt colour.

Riley pressed on 3 different types of t-shirts. He tried out the different sublimation papers on a variety of colour t-shirts.

Dark Sublimation paper is not suitable for pressing on polyester t-shirts.

It yields exceptional results when pressed on a cotton shirt.

The temperature of the heat press machine was set at 180 degrees for 15 seconds. As the pressing is done, wait for the t-shirt to cool down before you start peeling off the top part of the design that was pressed onto the shirt.

Light Sublimation paper:

The temperature of the heat press machine was set at 180 degrees for 30 seconds. As the pressing is done, peel off the top part while it is still hot. Press on t-shirt with a Teflon sheet for a further 10-15 seconds to achieve a good-looking crispy design.

Normal Sublimation paper

The temperature of the heat press machine was set at 200 degrees for 90 seconds. Peeled the top part off while it was still hot.

Durability:

Normal t-shirt sublimation is longer lasting.
The reason for this is that it is embedded in the fabric, there’s no vinyl, no adhesive. It is dyed directly onto the t-shirt.

Light t-shirt – Stretchy. The design will remain unchanged after you have stretched it. After it is washed, it goes back into shape.

Dark t-shirt- Also stretchy. It still keeps its form after you have stretched it. After being washed it goes back to normal

It is advisable that you:

Use the normal sublimation paper to print on a white polyester t-shirt.
Use light sublimation paper to print on a lighter fabric like cotton.
To print on a dark fabric cotton, use dark sublimation paper
