MakersLAB.TV S2E6 - Intricate Engraving on CNC Laser Cutting and Engraving Machine by Design Expert
AM’s CNC Laser Cutting and Engraving Machine can do Intricate (Very complicated or detailed- extremely fine detail) engraving.
When it comes to engraving, ensure that the image that you selected is black and white because engraving with colour can be quite a mission.
The shapes and designs of the image that is being engraved on the wood lie close to each other therefore creating an intricate pattern which looks very divine and stylish.
Specifications of Riley’s intricate engravement:
Riley engraved his design on 3mm wood.
Settings for cutting:
60% power at a speed of 80.
Settings for engraving:
45% power at a speed of 330.
This was done with perfect accuracy without burning the wood.
Narrative about laser engravement with AM’s CNC laser cutting and engraving machine:
When a laser is shot out of a laser tube in one direction. It has an initial beam spot diameter.
When the distance increases so does the diameter of the spot. This is measured by the beams’ divergence angle.
We need to use lens to concentrate the laser power that reaches the material.
Different lens have different focal lengths and depths of field for cutting.
A lens helps a laser remain in focus so that it gains higher power on the focal point.
The shorter the focal length, the shorter the depth its field therefore its cutting thickness will be less.
If a lens focal length is long, the focused point will be far away, less energy will have to be concentrated. The cutting thickness will be greater.
Lens have two parameters i.e. a diameter and a focal length.
Depending on the variation of your working project, you will need a range of choices in both the diameter and focal length.
What to do next?
Move the lens up and down until the spot of light is best focused.
The reading seen on the ruler is referred to as the focal length.
Intricate engraving can be done on items such as glasses, coasters and gift boxes.
